Gresini Ducati rider Alex Marquez topped the opening MotoGP practice at Jerez, taking the lead from his brother Marc who had led most of the session. The switch to fresh soft front and rear tires helped Alex secure the fastest lap time of 1m36.630s, overtaking Marc. Maverick Vinales finished third, with Aleix Espargaro in fourth, riding on fresh medium rear tires. Franco Morbidelli on the 2024-spec Ducati came in fifth, while KTM wildcard Dani Pedrosa was sixth, just ahead of Brad Binder. Lorenzo Savadori and Stefan Bradl as wildcards were 23rd and 24th, pushing Luca Marini to the last spot. Johann Zarco and Augusto Fernandez both crashed during the session, but Zarco quickly got back on his feet.
